I personally built the parallel Zip Drive hack, which was a fun project. However, the speed of transfer reminded me of the old cassette drives on the C=64.
Your best bet for ease of transfering stuff is a USB drive from Amikit, or one of the sidecar Harddrives and Amiga Explorer/null modem cable.
