3 ways.

1> Get a squirrelSCSI and an external CD drive

2> If you have a Blizzard accelerator in your 1200, you can install the SCSI kit that comes with it which will let you hook up external devices.

3> cut a hole in the case and install a laptop CDdrive. You'll need to buy an IDEsplitter which are available at Amigakit.com Others on this site have done this, so just take a look in the  photo section.
Amiga 3000D UP and running! Hear that clicking. 8)
Amiga 3000D & 4000D in storage sadly.

Im a simple soul in this field, option one sounds the most user friendly way togo... is it a pricey option, i know SCSI gear is..

Can i use my pc as a sort of slave and transer everything through the old pcmcia card?

Depends on the ebay situation. You know how something can wildly fluxuate in price.  :-o I've seen SquirrelSCSI's go for a decent price there. SCSI gear pricey?? People are practically giving that stuff away. I picked up a SCSI scanner for $0 and CDdrives for $5 and $0.

If you want to transfer files, using the PCMCIA flash card is easiest, or Amiga Explorer through the null modem cable between your PC/Amiga is simple too.
