A lot of the external peripherals from the old 68K Macs can work on the Amiga. I used a 500MB Mac hard drive for a long time as a transfer between my Amiga and PC. I guess the external CD Roms would work too, if they're scsi and you can cobble up the correct cables. Having said that, it makes more sense to put the CDROM internally.
