A few years ago I built some of these by hand for customers converting pc cases into external drive boxes. Radio Shack had a little project board #276-150 that worked well. You could solder a 50 pin to it - using the right holes to buss all the grounds together.. (there's one pin on that side that needs to be isolated, if I recall.) Anyway, I'd get a 25pin m/m cable & cut it in half.. solder 25 wires, and you're done. Ugly, but it worked. :-)
