@flaviosr

I did go trough all the trouble of building my own OS3.9 vampire install.
But since connecting or even having a CD ROM player connected to my A600 was too much trouble and a hassle for me to even try.
I did my base OS3.1 and then OS3.9 install in WinUAE.
So after I installed OS3.9 with BB1+BB2 via WinUAE i moved the CF to the A600 so I could setup a network connection and download whatever i need.

I know what would really help, a new version of OS3.x since also 3.9 is heavily outdated and in desperate need for an update.
Most people (me included) already bought OS3.9 a long time ago.

Now i did build my own install from scratch with legal purchased software but it's one heck of a task getting OS3.9 somewhere near the modern age.

A lot of users are not able or do not want  to go down this really long road to get all the bells and whistles working.

Maybe instead of fighting, finger pointing, and make other ppl look bad maybe we should all work together and DO SOMETHING!

Now, guess what: I am doing something - but I have little incentives to support pirates with what I'm doing.

I can understand that point of view from your side Thomas, but this is a result of OS3.x not being developed for years now, people just want an easy out of the box install experience.

I'm sure almost all will buy a nicely updated OS3 version that makes everything work out of the box (like integrating Picasso96 as a standard for example, something like reqattack, visualprefs etc).
I would buy a nicely updated os3.x in a heartbeat it's one hell of a task to get my config where it is and be happy to pay for, saves me a lot of hassle and well worth the money.

Yikes! :)

No yikes, but just a slightly updated GUI, requesters that appear in the middle of the screen, a magic menu +toolsdaemon menu system as a standard, peterk like icon lib (OS3.9 one is dog slow), MUI that sort of stuff.

Vampire is not very compatible no.  Lots of things break as their priority is writing new apps and tools and not legacy compatibility.  This is a problem going forward. Its too bad as its a cool and innovative project. But for some reason they leaders want to create some new OS for vampire.

Why almost everything works on my vamp then ? i think it's very compatible backwards wise.
Also do not forget 68080 is a MUCH more modern/advanced beast then 68060.
All system/OS friendly software just works that's it.
I got my own hand build OS3.9 install (and yes i have a legal original copy of OS3.9) installed almost every hack/patch and add-on known to Amiga kind and it runs rock solid.

To put in another perspective the old PPC cards where not compatible, because you needed WarpOS and specially written software to make use of PPC.

With the FPU now shaping up, Vampire is gaining more compatibility again.
My point is that with going forward you will always loose some compatibility and must find workarounds to regain backwards compatibility, but in this case it's very very little, heck you dont even need the 68040.library anymore.
Until WHDload you could not play any or almost none of the old games for A500 on 040 and 060, to have WHDload tuned in for vamp will take time.
The only thing i cannot run ATM is AGA software because it's not implemented yet.

Sure when writing new apps that take full advantage of apollo-core features will not run on older 68K CPU's, but it makes software possible that would never run anywhere decent on 040 and 060 (like playing mpeg on 640x360@24 or 30 fps consistent) or run Netsurf usable.

And to put in further perspective probably there are now more active vampire users then 060 users, if not then it will be in the very near future.
