Berlin

In the continued absence of CH/Travel, I will just post here  :-D

I've just returned from a long weekend in Berlin.  It's a pretty cool city, even though it was very very cold!  The public transport system there is really good - I was very impressed with the U-Bahn!

I think we saw most of the famous sites, but I was most impressed by the Checkpoint Charlie Museum, I think I spent over 2 hours in there - it was fantastic and very informative about the GDR and other Central and Eastern European states' struggles.

Anyway, just wanted to say thank you to Berliners for making their city such a great place to visit - hopefully I'll be back there before too long!

I think thats one of the most startling thing to Brits wherever they go.

We are, by and large a dreadfully messy lot :-(

@KennyR
Yeah, the streets are nice and clean, they were even sweeping up the falling leaves from the trees.....

....just like here in Newcastle, where the city has a huge fleet of motorised pavement cleaners that chase you about and suck up rubbish.

The council has introduced a new regulation where you get fined £200 for dropping litter, a law that I personally think is eroding my civil liberties.  Although I don't want to, I should be free to throw my crisp packets and bits of left-over cheeseburger onto the pavement.

Anyway, I think my point is that "messy english people" is just a stereotype.
