Peter,

Why don't you just change the RTC battery to your's? All you need is a soldering iron and a replacement battery (I'm assuming that the battery isn't the coin type that some memory expansions got).

I myself replaced the old battery with the coin type and a diode to prevent the expansion card from charging it. Works great!
