I am also a filmmaker (still have a day job) who thinks that the Aone would be great for doing post on film/video. Unfortunatly there doesn't seem to be a lot of tools available (let alone the OS yet). If I was good at writing code I would start some sort of Open Source type of project for editing but I can't get past "Hello World" in C.
There are some very good paint programs out there, which IMHO would be great for doing post work on films/video.
Of course I could be wrong on some of this stuff and I hope that somebody could point us in the right direction.
As for the rest (RAID storage, etc.) that would probably be a hardware hack.
Also (not to start a flame war) you might check out MorphOS and Pegasos as they are bit farther along in development with their OS. There are plenty of people here who could give you more info on that than I could. I believe you can find their links in the links section.
