Just another link that goes with the topic.

And btw, some of these functions are already in XP

'Trusted computing': This means "you'll have to trust us with root access to your machine, because we sure as hell don't trust you".

Ha. If you try to install some M$ software - take Windows Media Player freggsample - read the EULA first. You'll be told that, in a nutshell, by installing their software you're agreeing to give M$:

1) The right to download stuff to your computer without telling you about it or giving you the chance to refuse;
2) The right to censor content on your computer, and stop some software running (nowhere is the word 'unlicensed' used in connection with this).

Not only do I object to Microsoft having carte blanche to store what they like on my HD (especially considering their abysmal security record), I find the idea of their deciding what I may or may not watch/listen to/read on my computer more than objectionable.

Conclusion? Go alternative! Buy an Amigaone! :-D

This could go the other way, and give different OS some leveridge.

Well hopefully this will become apparent and other alternatives will glitter and shine beyond Microsoft's fools gold!

We could start now and suggest they watch what happens to their Internet connection when they do a local file search with XP...
