I'm that rarest of folks, someone who doesn't hate Windows.

Not quite rare i.e. I'm currently using Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition....

Once I get financially solvent again I may have to buy a copy of that...how is it in comparison to 2000 Adv. Server?

Without going into detail... It’s fundamentally the Windows XP (a.k.a NT 5.1) within the Server segment.

Microsoft thinks that IT Technicians are bunch idiots i.e. wizard features seems to be over kill in my POV. For positive aspect, it’s a relatively easier to use than the old 2000 Adv. Server.

There are some 'issues' with existing software (due to NT 5.2 related features) e.g. MS SQL. It’s Internet Explorer 6.0 setup has all of it’s scripting turned off (for security).

This particular edition is friendly for the ancient Celeron A @300** (with 128MB RAM).

**It's my lowest test machine, without resorting to a 486DX33 (with 20Mb of RAM) on card (iCL make) (not factoring 386DX box).

I notice that some people (in some Windows forums) runs their Win2K3 on Pentium II @233Mhz  (i.e. it’s competition who can get it on the lowest hardware while still usable).

I would never condone piracy, but given that M$ thinks it's ok to support SCO (which I take as a personal attack)

Pir*cy has nothing to do with the post? In POV, what you do with the software on your machine is your business. I don’t have an interventionist policy.

It's close to the end of financial year (in Oz anyway), thus justifies the expense (i.e. expenses can be claimed back from gov taxes).

why not look at gnutella (I prefer the Gnuleus client).
It's simply amazing whay you can find there with respect to Operaing systems

I'm well aware of MS's famed leaks and transformation kits (i.e. it made head line news).

PS; One could obtain an evaluation edition of Win2K3 product (from MS) to test the product for suitability.

It can't be harder...! Although to be fair configuring the 2000 server here was easier than the old NT4 server. Bleaugh! I like the "configure your server" option when you first power the thing on.

IF you experienced with any of MS Office wizards, you will know what I mean (in regards to making it near idiot proof).
