Hi, what games do you want to play on the new AmigaOne?

Unreal Tournament 2003**. AmigaOne with ~800Mhz processor, 64MB (SD)RAM and ATI Radeon 9000(DirectX8/OpenGLv1.4 class GPU) should be enough to match the X-BOX's level of performance.

**X-BOX level system requirements. X-BOX edition may not as rich/bloated/obese/excessive as WinPC edition but it should enable similar experience.

Also note that, AmigaOne with ~800Mhz processor, 64MB (SD)RAM, ATI Radeon 9000(DirectX8/OpenGLv1.4 class GPU) and SB-Live should be enough to run any similar level X-Box games.

IF Eyetech release PPC edition of X-BOX level spec within/or around the “Amiga500” market segment such a machine may do quite well i.e. small footprint OS + home/small office PC + X-Box level gaming capability. (Perhaps based around Eyetech’s cheaper AmigaOneG3Lite(?) platform).

Alternatively, AmigaOne with 600Mhz processor, 64MB RAM and ATI Radeon 7500 should be more than enough to run Nintendo’s Game Cube level games.

Ryzen 9 7900X, DDR5-6000 64 GB, RTX 4080 16 GB PC.

You don't want 64Mb

My statement was factoring in a PPC edition of “Amiga500” targeted home PC with good level gaming experience and price (or close to it).

This formula works with the Amiga in past i.e. a leisure PC which fits between the consoles and X86 Window PCs.

256MB or 512MB is nice, but factoring the potential cost of lower class AmigaOne motherboard; other cutdown maybe required. I really do wish that the Amiga’s main investors to have a successful venture.

I do missed Amiga500’s characteristics i.e. click-and-go gaming*, home/school PC*, relatively small size for travelling*, relatively cool running HW*, light-weight-OS* and relatively cheap price*. Such characteristics are suited for the next generation of kids as the Amiga500 was suited for my needs/wants when I was younger.  I least my parents doesn’t have to worry about 'blowing up' the PC. (PS My parents has an IBM PS/2 back that time (i.e. 1989)).

Personally, I have several unused 256MB 133Mhz SDRAM sticks for the A1.

Then pee on the XBOX

My use of “X-BOX” is just to illustrate a level of  system requirements.

Alledgedly, DOOM-3 is under consideration for the XBOX, so maybe a decent A1XE with Radeon9000 class GPU will cope too...

I know, but other considerations have to be taken into an account.

While even 64MB SDRAM + 64MB GFX card DDR RAM is "lightyear" ahead of XBOX memory capacity...

Of course, I do keep track of developments.

256MB SDRAM should remove the need of the swap memory & HDD.

Of course, but the final cost would be potential point of concern.

HDD could be added when/if needed. (it should exist in A1200 kind of machine, not in CD32/gameconsole)

Of course i.e. how could one save their home-related user data** without a (random access) mass storage device (e.g. hard disk)?

The Playstation 2 has a vast amount of games and it seems Sony has provided the Linux community with utilities for converting things.

Careful with that statement... Sony’s interest in Linux is for the support it’s own brand of non-negotiable closed hardware platform.

One doesn't need Sony's initiative, IF the source code is already available for download (and open for negotiation in regards to licensing deals).

If you can convert things for PS 2 from Linux, what's to stop people reverse engininering and releasing similar games onto the AmigaONE?

What do 'you' mean by "reverse engininering"?
One doesn’t need reverse engineering if the source code is available to begin with.

After all Connetix produced a PSX Emulator on Mac and beat Sonys law suit.

Such emulators could negate the need for native AmigaOS titles and could damage the AmigaOS platform in the long run. It only benefits Sony in terms of titles sales and market share (i.e. aids Sony’s market software sales not AmigaOS related titles).
