That is not cool from any of you to behave like that with Magnetic.

If he has been banned from Amibay, there is no reason to discuss it here, in a WTB thread, unless you would like to banish him from the whole internet.

Profeetering on amiga hardware is not a matter to be proud of, but you are on amiga.org here, and i know the guy Magnetic as a valuable member here.

He brought up the subject.  If he wants to make public discussion of the matter people have a right to defend themselves.

If he dosen't want a public discusion on the matter then...

To be honest none of the reply's here are constructive, a moderator of this forum should get involved and clean up this mess as no good will come of it.

Speaking of people defending themselves, i don't see why you might be involved here, unless you are a moderator of amibay.
And many people defending themselves versus one guy doesn't look like a fair defense to me.

Calm down people.
Remember that, except North Korea and Cuba, everyone is now living under free liberalism or full capitalism.
The world is made of profiteering and unless a big global revolution puts an end to it, it will do forever.
Although i think it is very uncool to make profit on old amiga hardware, i just don't want to rule the market according to some political system that does not exist anywhere in the world.
Why not raise some taxes on amiga sales from this point of view?

One more point to underligne: Amibay prices are not often cheap, and i still can find a better bargain on ebay.

This discussion about rules is becoming interesting, even if it sounds not.

A lawyer would tell you that in a modern country, the Law comes from:
1/ the constitution of this country
2/ treaties made with other countries (aka European Union), which must be compatible with the constitution above
3/ the internal laws of the country
4/ the administratives rules in the country
5/ the custom
6/ the jurisprudence coming from particuliar cases that have been judged.

and of course, every point must obey the previous point in that order.

So, where would a forum rule take place in this scheme? In a 7th point, that would have to conform to all previous rules.
You understand then that a forum rule should only be some general recommandations about politness, norm of writing on the forum, subject of the forum, and not a valour system that could prevent any one to sell/trade anything just as he want. Free capitalism is a law in western countries as long as it is not forbidden gears.

In conclusion, a public forum can not be under a super rule and the "if you don't like the rule, do not suscribe" is irrelevant.

amibay is not a free market then, nor are our beloved amigas just 'merchandise'. if you're looking for stuff to make profit, than dont come there as simple as that. yes, they are doing some sort of price regulation, which I have no problem with. your parallels with communist markets is just utter non sense as we are not talking about distribution of wealth here. it is just a fair system where people can buy and sell stuff without thinking about how much they're losing/gaining profit. as a side note, I find the american notion of trying to associate everything that doesnt suit them with communism/socialism very funny. makes you wonder when you guys start getting this commie bogeyman treatment ...

I'm no american, coze. Although France is not as powerful as in the napoleonic time it's still an independant country you know. :)
And i don't speak of communism either, communism simply does not exist anymore.

Amibay is more like a private club.

Yeah, amibay can be a private club.

In that case, it should be clearly stated, people admited after trial or sponsorship, and anyone not complying with the rule could be kick out anytime. Amibay could have its own moral rule ("sell back to the community", "take a wife only in the community", etc), as long as it is not illegal.

The problem is you find most of the guys of amibay in ebay too (with another nickname). How strange!!

Not too much criticism: i like amibay and i am ok with most of the ethic of amibay (i won't sell back with profiteering for instance as it is not my point with the amiga) but i don't like hypocrisy.

Some of you guys crack me up.  "no one's gonna tell me what I can sell something for"; "it'll be a cold day in hell..." blah blah blah.  Kind of glad you Amibay naysayers are not part of our small but perfectly formed community (and it is a community by the way - a lot more than this place has turned into it seems).

Stay on eBay or wherever the hell you want to for your buying or selling.  No one's asking you to come to Amibay (trust me - we're really not) but if you do, and you don't like the rules - then get lost - simples.

Tell you what - keep alienating Amibayers here and at this rate it'll be a cold day in hell before I donate here again for sure.

I am starting to get really frightened by the reaction of some of my amibay fellows. Amibay is not a community on his own, it's a small part of the amiga community, in which amiga.org is a much bigger part.
Note also that amibay is not even 100% amiga related: is it not the vintage bay, including any kind of old computer?
We should all be friends here and show positive feelings to anyone using our outdated computers.
So please stop acting like you were in a sect or so.

Been keeping a beady eye on this thread and reckon it's time for a few words of wisdom. I reckon as one who as visited Amiga.org on a couple of occasions and having been to AmiBay once, I can offer a fair and totally  unbiased perspective on this little matter... :)

Here's my two bobs worth anyway... :)

Amiga.org: A place where you are free to wander the hallowed halls of accademia & great learning at will, where you can sit in on any class you choose and say your bit no matter how unrelated it is to the subject in hand, without fear of being escorted off the premisses.

A place where the moderators/carers gently point you in the right direction when you have a sudden bought of uncontrollable Tourettes Syndrome they sit you down in a nice quite room with some soothing words of wisdom until it passes, then set you merrily on your way again with a nice lollipop to roam freely once again at w
ill. :)

Amibay: A dank and dark institution where the moderators/wardens if they find you even setting foot outside your cell or if they even think your thinking of wandering off freely down it's creepy & dangerous corridors, will soon have you locked up in solitary confinement never to be seen or heard from again. :(

A place where in order to sell your warez you have to have your background thoroughly checked by the KJB and FBI and spend at least six months in Guantanamo Bay before you can even become a member. Once a member though anything you do manage to sell can have you banned or become one of the vanished if it's found out later on that you once stepped on a crack in the pavement or if it's found out your pet dog once had a bout of worm
s. :(

There we have it a totally fair and unbiased view from an innocent bystander who has no real opinion on this matter anyway and would never even think for one minute to get involved in such a thing... :D

I was wondering why you did not show up here yet :D
