ascii code on amiga

Hi. As my A1200 keyboard has some non working keys, i need tu use ascii code (for example alt+099 instead of C), but unlike my pc, it does not work. Would you have any clue how to use ascii codes with my miggy? Thanks.

Do not worry, i am waiting for a whole new and white keyboard from amigakit. :-)
