Combining audio (CD-ROM, Paula and optional soundcard)
« on: October 31, 2005, 04:41:52 PM »
Hi,

I was wondering what options are available for the Amiga 4000 on combining audio in one output. Ideally you want to have one output to your stereo that outputs all the audio your Amiga is making whatever the source; be it CD audio, Paula audio of maybe even a soundcard like Delfina or Concierto.

I read about some graphics cards (like Picasso IV) also can handle audio output.

I have a PIV and that can handle audio input as well. I was wondering if I would get a Delfina Flipper I can still use one connection to my stereo for all output.

I don't really want to go the Mediator way. If I added a Concierto to the Picasso you can control the audio volume with the driver software?

But would adding a sound card make sense? What are the benefits? Would a Concierto make playing mp3 possible on an A4000?

Or do you need a different card for that? Like a Delfina?

I have a soldering iron and could build a mixer I guess...

But I still have one question:

Does it make sense to add a sound card to the classic Amiga? What would benefit? As far as I can see only some applications benefit and there is no hardware mp3 playback with the zorro sound cards?
