going insane with pci hardware drivers
« on: December 24, 2005, 01:41:35 PM »
hi,

i'm crrently trying to build up a tower a1200 system. i have the mediator lt4 pci board installed, a apollo 1260 and os3.9.

the tower ist built up, pci devices are plugged in and everything 'seems' fine.

biggest problem, i cant get the vooodoo 3 card working (cant get any pci card working, but one step at a time ;) ).

i have installed all the drivers from the mediator multimedia cd.

i have installed picasso software and selected cybervision 64/3d. first the version from the os3.9 cd, than the version 2.0 from aminet. both same problems

picassoconfig (or how it is called) shows up a lot of resolutions, i pick one and save. the devs/monitors has a cybergrafix monitor in it. but after reboot it does not show up on 'screenmodes'

has anyone any ideas? or are there tool with them i can check if the cards are detected at all and the mediator board works?

thanx in advance

i followed these instructions in detail.

what i have noticed is, that picasso96mode says:
not attached: Village-64

and on menu theres 'attach settings to -> no board'

i assume this is not what it should say if it has found the board?

i am writing this now from the running tower system

thanx for the help. especially the pciinfo tip did show up that the card was not recognised, so was the network card.

to be honest, i don't think, the mediator and|or d-box are a masterpeace of engeniering, because the reason the boards were not detected, was that every time i screwed them down, they were lifted up a little on one side of the pci bus, so connection was not enough. rearranging the cards i could solve the problem, as the usb card seems to be strong enough connected to the board to lift the mediator a little to be able to screw the other board down too.

finally everything works, except the floppy, but a am sure this is a connection problem too, have to check this later.

now i am too happy and one step closer to a world free of pc's

thanx
