G4 powerbooks are good hardware and reliable. If you want in the future to run MorphOS, go for it.
AROS is still picky about the hardware it can run on natively. I wasn't able to put it on my old toshiba satellite, and recently it refused to do it on my asus eeepc, so be careful with the hardware you choose.
