The Black Monitor
« on: May 03, 2018, 06:02:31 PM »
Hi

I had always thought that my black 1084S that came with the CDTV was a paint job. However looking at the label on the rear it actually states its the black version of the monitor. Also, the paint actually goes through the vent fins on the side of the monitor which would have been a tricky paint job.

I note though that the panel behind the drop flap is the original beige colour. The ones I have seen on the web are generally all black. Just curious as to whether anyone else has one with the beige. Mine has lost its main logo on the outside. Bit battered, but still works.

Scuzz, where do you get all this stuff? Is it some ones warehouse your cataloguing or is this all your own gear you have collected? Pretty amazing collection of computers really..

It's all my own stuff. I just spent all my time and resources over the years collecting computers. Before Ebay I would trawl the local rags like Diamond Free Adds and the like. I also used Amibench quite a lot for the Amiga items. I just love computers and have the place filled with them.

that monitor was painted no way thats from cbm factory

I did use to think the same, kinda why I never took it seriously, but the label hasn't been tampered with and the colour has been professionally applied and the labels fixed over. I had kinda come to the conclusion this was Commodore basically using the old stock to try and push the CDTV.

Although they may be a little uncommon I would prefer a totally black monitor.

My one CDTV has some quite strange modifications and I'll feature that in a week or so time. I also found some interesting software for the CDTV and CD32 today which I will give a whirl. Not a great fan of the CDTV but worth firing up I guess... I'll use the black monitor.
