How hard is it to install a GVP HC+8 scsi controller + 4 gb HD and 8 mb ram
on my amiga 2000 ?
I found this item on ebay, and would love to get it later.
I can really use the extra memory + HD space.
Tough for a non-hardware person to install ?
Please tell me if I can easily install this.

Does  it come ready installed and formatted cus it may have been set up with the GVP software. Not an issue but useful if you can get the GVP software that came with it.

Fitting is easy just open the 2000 and take off a blank end plate and slot the unit it. There is an LED red black wire for the hard drive light. Should auto detect if its on the system, just do the old two mouse button down. Most likely boot into what ever OS is on the drive if used before. Dunno what ROM you have on the 2000, you may want to update if you have a later ROM than the OS on the drive.

These drives are getting old sadly so don't expect too much from it. Trick though is to fire the 2000 up regularly to keep the drive active, that's what I do. Always interesting to see what is on the drive... Have a look at this.

I have several of these and they all work a treat. Also nice with the SCSI which means you can add more kit like say a ZIP drive. Interestingly I was only thinking that one of my 2000s that I use as a small table for a 4000 ( don't ask ) must have a HD and I just plugged in the tea kettle and switched on and sure enough I could hear the drive booting up. The SCSI on the plate was the give away as to what it was. Great bit of kit and if you can afford it I certainly would get one..... otherwise you would need one of these which sadly let me down yesterday.... Never mind.
