Hi

Seem to be quoting Eyetech a lot tonight... From their very informative tech sheet on this they state... STAGE 4.. The next stage is to connect your hard drive. In order to boot from a HD attached to your interface it must be connected to Channel 1, sometimes called the Primary Port or Channel. If you are using a 3.5" HD it must be set to master.

You only need the C:IDEFix line below C:SETPATCH in your startup-sequence if you intend using Channel 2 to connect a HD or removeable media drive ( LS120/ZIP )

Usually the normal preferred configuration for HD's & CDs are as follows:

1 x HD & CDROM ...
Channel 1 Master Hard Drive
          Slave
Channel 2 Master CDROM

I would check Channels.. Channel 1 should be the 40 Way IDE next to the 44 Way small, more central on the buffered interface. i.e. not the one on the edge of the board. Channel 1 is also known as Port 0.

They go left to right : Pin 1 at the bottom
40-way Port 1 [ Channel 2 ] Far left
40-way Port 0 [ Channel 1 ]
gap
44-way smaller Port 0 [ Channel 1 ]
44-way smaller Input Port [ To Amiga ] Far right

PS What do you see on the early boot screen with both mouse buttons depressed...

Hi

Did you say you had scanned for the drive using the IDEFix software... this will show the hard drive its make etc. Why don`t you just swap the Channel over and see what happens.

Hi

Well done. We get there in the end. Using an Amiga is like walking down a corridor and finding a locked door. You can either just give up or try a long route round through several doors. As I say... you get there in the end, just takes a bit longer.

Being an Amigan really means not giving up. :-)

Happy days
