Only 8GB seen of my 12GB harddisk

Yes, I know this has been discussed a lot. But the question is: where are those 4GB?
What I did on an A1200, KS3.0, WB3.1:
1. Made one partition and installed WB3.1
2. Installed a300.ld.strip and added "loadmodule a000.ld.strip" to first line of s:startup-sequence
3. Installed sfs with hdtoolbox
4. Formatted all partitions with sfsformat
It works great and Check4GB says everything is OK.
Used HDToolbox and HDInstTool, but it tells me my hd is only 8GB?

According to your statement it's not a 12GB drive at all?

It's an IBM Travelstar DJSA-220 with p/n 07N6635. This drive is probably pulled from a Compaq Notebook and has Compaq partnumer 171971-001.
That's all I know and I cannot find a drive with these specs on the Hitachi site. :roll:

That's a good idea. I can attach it via an IDE-USB adapter. Do I need special software to read these parameters?

I was able to peel off the aluminum Compaq wrapper from the drive. Underneath it says:
(OEM:221655-001)
(16383CYL.16HEADS.63SEC/T)
Should I use these parameters in HDToolbox for this 12GB drive?

OK guys, I started all over again and this it worked without entering anything about cylinders, blocks or whatever. Check4GB reports as expected.
