The NEW Commodore???
« on: August 25, 2006, 05:48:47 AM »
Anyone else seen this??

 The commodore is back and I don't mean a naval officer. The computer company!

By Fuad Abazovic in Leipzig: Thursday 24 August 2006, 18:28

"IF YOU remember Commodore 64 that means you are not a teenager any more.

We certainly spent a piece of our life playing with that machine in the dawn of PC gaming.

Now, the Commodore brand sits on a range of high-end PCs equipped with Nvidia's 7950 GX2 card and an AMD FX 60. Commodore is now a Dutch company and is testing the waters to see is there a market for such a PC with this legendary brand on it.

The company picked a nice looking case packed some high-end hardware to beef up ye olde Commodore logo.

We we're able to try out the the old games on the beast."

@ the drive cover comments:  Well, when you have white, tan, beige, and black external devices, you'll learn to appreciate external drive covers :)  Not always is the device you wish to put in there, a nice shiny black-matching your case color!!

@ running two systems in one case;

Should be "fairly" easy, I'd think, especailly with today's PC's..  Simply use an nVidia or ATI VIVO card (or a TV card with inputs), and run RCA out of ami mobo into the in on said device..  Would be slick to see SVHS action or even some form of VGA (I guess depending on your ami, right..) - Anything is possible where there is desire.  All you need is one of those nice full-size cases for plenty of room and a dremel :)

As an off-topic - I've done this very thing with an Xbox.  Xbox outs went into my SVHS in on TV card..  Was slick and got tons of remarks about it, even though I just simply got the idea from the net, wasn't like my own original idea, lol :)  Still - Was a fun setup..

In the same box was also a 4-port 10/100 switch (disassembled, of course)..  Was my ultimate LAN rig..  Miss those days... :(  (Sold the unit to a buddy).  Thinking of someday doing up another with a x360), but a miggy sounds like a blast, too.  Never thought about that... ;)
