df0: boot on an a2k w/gvp...
« on: July 19, 2006, 09:38:45 AM »
Okies fellas :)  Alot has happened here since my posting of a purchase of an A2k..  Found a TON of my old A500 software (and some hardware, too!!) that I thought was lost..  Got me realizing a problem I face...

On the A500(w/ SupraDrive) if you pop in a floppy, it will boot fro the floppy, not the SCSI.

On this A2k, it seems it doesn't care if there's a floppy in DF0:  (or DF1: for that matter), it boots off SCSI regardless.  Yea, DF0: works fine, shows the disk, accessable, etc..  But it won't boot from it..  lol :(  Help the 'old' noob?? :)

(At work right now) And wanting to try something when I get home..  Not sure how/where I change boot priorities..  If it's in software I could be in trouble if I need a special utility to do it.  The A2k came with no driver for the gvp card (or many others, lol)..  Lemme know if it's something I'd need drivers for (and how I could get them, too, lol, if possible) or if it's edited elsewhere..  Noob level please, too..  I used to know my way around like that back of my hand but that was 10+ years ago! ;(  Thanks in advance,

  Rooster

Ahh ok tnx ;)  Just for ref, it's KS 1.3..  I have a set of 2.0's in my A500, but, well, that is currently being used as well :) (believe they are swappable)

I'll see if I have either of those utilities lurking on that hard drive..  Wasn't my system (if I didn't mention that already) so I'm not sure what is there, other than the remains of video station, so to speak, hehe..  Always fun..  And I don't wanna wipe anything, because, well, I don't know what I have discs for yet!  Fun fun fun..
