Having read the thread you refer to, the word "stupid" was
not referrimng to the poster of the original question, but
towards someone posting a solution of which he did not
approve. And to be fair, the person writing that did not
seem like a native english speaker, and so did probably not
put as much weight in the word as you seem to do.
 
However, whereas your example was somewhat off the
mark, I agree that every and all questions should be
answered politely and patiently. There are no stupid
questions, only stupid answers, as they say.
 
But generally, I think the Amiga community really shines in
the technical savvy aspect. No problem there - it's only
when it comes to emotions and preferences that we tend to
start to quarrel...
