This problem with nVidia chips was in the press months and months ago. Why is it news now?

Because nVidia are allegedly lying about the problem not being present in the new 9600M.  According to the article I read, some analysis of the chip revealed it still has the same dodgy 'bump' problem, but nVidia are flat out denying it.  The 9400M that is used in the new MacBooks (and in the Macbook Pros as a secondary chip) is not affected.

Of course the real reason it's news here is because it's the done thing to {bleep}, whinge, moan and generally slag off Apple as it was for Microsoft 10 years ago.

To clarify your amazingly cynical point of view, it's news because I got it posted in my inbox from geek.com and thought it might be of interest. ...also for the record I don't {bleep}, whinge, moan and generally slag off Apple or Microsoft because it's the done thing.  :madashell:
