Who on Amiga.org have you met in real life?
« on: January 09, 2011, 05:55:56 PM »
I've always wondered which folks on here actually see each other in the real world?

I'll start:

TheGoose is an old friend of mine from High school. He lives about 15 minutes from me
so we swap Amiga parts all the time.

I met Tone007 once when he drove down from Virginia to pick up a bunch of classic gear.

I've talked to TheMagicM on the phone a couple of times.

I'm not sure if any of the folks I met at a NC Amiga user group meeting lurk on A.org since they are mostly OS4 users. I think LyleHaze over there is the one guy I met.

If I ever end up on the other side of the pond I would like to have a beer with you guys!.
I'm sure Bloodline & I would have a lot to talk about since were both Amiga, AROS and Logic users.

I met A4000_Mad when I bought an A4000 from him a few years ago. He wasn't a member at the time. I also met bloodline when I saw Radiohead at Victoria Park. Blimey, that was 2 and a half years ago 0_o

People freak out when they encounter a person with disabilities. My wife was born disabled (No forearms, half a leg, partial tongue) You wouldn't believe some of the stuff people say to her just because she makes them nervous.

She just published a book about disability in contemporary art. You can see it here:

Being born completely deaf and never having the chance to learn language and social skills is very different to losing some of the volume in one of your ears. It also affects the way people act towards you. You may tell people you have trouble hearing and they can raise their voice for you to hear. I tell people I'm deaf and that's the end of the conversation. They get uncomfortable and walk away to find someone else to talk to.

Alright, the thread is back on!.

I feel like I've actually learned some things about some of the folks here. Maybe if more of us met in person there would be a lot less bickering going on here?
