Toaster 2000 & OS3.9 and other toaster questions....
« on: April 15, 2009, 04:17:28 PM »
Hey Folks,

I just picked up an A2000 w/ a toaster 2000, GVP030@33mhz/4mb , 2mb ram card and a TBC for real cheap!

I ordered 2 more GVP simms & a spectrum card for this machine from Software Hut. still waiting on that.

Questions:

-Will the toater 2000 software still run under OS3.9? I pretty sure when I add the spectrum that should free up my chip ram for the toater?

-Do you need 2mb of chip ram if I wanted to add a Toaster 4000?

-Will the slower 2mb zorro ram card be a bottle neck on the rest of the system? I will have a total of 12mb of ram on the GVP card when that arrives. that may be enough for me with the added 2mb of video ram from the spectrum.

@save2600,

OK, cool! thanks for the tips! the toaster 2.o software runs with 1 mb chip ram right now. Is there any reason for me to ever upgrade to later toaster software? Does it add anything for a Toaster 2000 user?

I'll probably sell the 2mb zorro card really cheap or just give it away after my new ram shows up. It can take up to 8mb if any one could ever find the chips for it!

@CLS2086,

I'm going to have to get by with 1mb for now. Those megachips for A2000 still go for way too much money!

The Spectrum & GVP ram was already a lot more then I wanted to spend on this :lol: I only got the spectrum cause
I wanted to be able to use RTG friendly apps on a nice screen mode. I have a giant 27" NEC multisync for the native Amiga/toaster display.

The toaster is cool but I'll probably only use it for old school effects/transitions for my band stuff.
