I seem to remember that there were two RAM Disks:
1) the ordinary one that grows from memory with usage
2) a pre-sized to 880kb one that represetns a floppy disk and does not loose it's content on reboots (only power outages) used for fast copy disk-via-ramdisk-to-disk and testing.
