Is there a good software flickerfixer
Choose a non interlaced mode in PREFS?

i am using MagicTV (Software flickerfixer) @ 16 colors
Hmmm, I wonder how it works? All I can think of is it uses interlaced screens but reduces flicker by clever use of colours between fields.

i would love to use 256 colors , remain flicker free at high resolutions using my 1084-S
That monitor does not offer a high-res progressive mode. Interlaced or low-res is the only choice.

You could of course use a PC monitor and use VGA monitor definition. That would give you 256 colours. You'll need a 23-pin to 15 pin adapter dongle. Of course this is workbench only, games would not work.

Another option could be using an LCD TV (like 15 or 17 inch) which has a SCART input. I dont know about flicker etc.. though.

Some have flicker-fixers, some don't. Try and if you're not satisfied take it back. I am sure that an indivision AGA would be cheaper though.

Is this dongle considered an Amiga specific adapter?
Yes.

Quote from: AmigaMance;456168
Why it doesn't work with games? Because they work at 15khz horizontal frequency and VGA monitors can't handle it
Yes

Quote from: AmigaMance;456168
If this is the issue, aren't there any special VGA monitors that can handle this frequency?
There were. Dual-scan CRT monitors made by Microvitec.
