Why couldn't you have found these back in July when the $ wasn't worth anything?

I could have easily justified one then at $2.10 = £1 :-)

RED, AFAIK A4000T motherboards were designed to use LiH alkaline barrel batteries that were prone to leaking, just like A500+, A3000 & A4000D. If they have never been touched since they were manufactured in the late 90's I'd bet money that most have leaked. I would find out what condition they are in before buying.

Nope, they don't. A4000Ts had coin type batteries.

You sure?

Interesting, however you cannot rely 100% on information on BBoAH.

Look at the photograph. It is without a doubt an after production replacement. You can see the solder marks on the PCB laquer and you can see the board was designed to take a barrel battery.

The only Amiga motherboard designed to take a Coin type battery was the A4000D-CR

Look how it is a really designed to take a coin battery, the silk screen, the space, the connectors.

I am not saying that all A4000T's did not come with hacked coin batteries out of the factory. It's just they were not designed to have them.

All my A4000T's (I have 3) have exactly the same, original coin battery:

Cool.

Makes you wonder, why not fit a coin battery holder instead of a "soldered to the board type one" and an external connector...

Ah, that might explain the picture on BBoAH, A4000T's might have coin batteries out of the factory but in order to replace them you've got to desolder it.

I still think it was a post-design change.

The A4000D-CR (which is wot I got!) was perhaps designed after the A4000T? It has a standard coin battery holder for easy battery replacement.

Anyhow scare over.
