Unlike the Amiga, you can make your own spectrum-on-a-chip very easily. (Hey that is SoC!)
The full gate level hardware design of the spectrum custom chips (ULA) is known.
You can implement in a modern CPLD easily and know you'll be 100% compatible, and then you can have any I/O or voltage requirements you like (within reason).
