Any short PATA IDE CD/DVD will work.
Any PATA IDE hard drive will work.

Just plug the two into a single cable via the PATA IDE header on the Amiga motherboard.

You could even install your Amiga's new IDE hard drive using your PC and WinUAE before transferring it over to your Amiga. An easy way to install OS3.9 + BB2 + patches.

More RAM
1) Fastlane SCSI controller (64Mbytes) = £50-60
2) DKB 3128 Zorro III RAM card (128Mbytes) = £100-120
3) 680x0 accelerator (WarpEngine, Cyberstorm, Apollo) = £150-400

PC Keyboard and Mouse
COCOLINO PS/2 mouse adapter = £26
Lyra PS/2 keyboard adapter = £20

PC monitor
1) Scandoubler = £50-90
2) Picasso IV gfx card = £150
3) 15" LCDTV = £100

Fast ATA-MKIII - 4 device IDE card

That is A1200 only. Plus you dont need anything, the Amiga can use two IDE devices (Hard drive + DVD-RW) using just the internal IDE.

Why have two IDE disks when you can have one? An old PC hard drive of yesteryear (40Gig say) will be more than enough. You can use a PC to copy the files from the old drive to a new one using WinUAE.

It might also be advisable to get a KS3.1 ROM upgrade.

No I am not. Amiga kit has mislabeled it.

FastATA MK-III is the A1200 one.
FastATA 4000 is the Zorro III one.

Whath is a KS3.1 ROM?

Kickstart 3.1 ROM. It's the boot chip inside the Amiga. The last version was 3.1, you may have an earlier 3.0 one

You could add a Budha IDE controller to speed up disk access. With the Budha you will have an extra IDE header to connect a CD or DVD ROM whihc are supported by IDEFIX97.

You dont want a Buddha IDE controller. It is crap. Almost as slow as the internal one. Under 3Mbytes/s. The internal one also supports CD or DVD-ROM at the same time as a hard drive. Save your money.

If you have the 3.11 ROMs and take some time to check out these forums you can simply add a large hard drive instead of two.

There is no such thing as a 3.11 ROM, and you can add larger hard drives to any version of Kickstart. (With the right software)

As for keyboard and mouse, I agree that USB would be the way to go and give you the ability to use USB flash drives, hard drives, etc.

USB doesn't work as a keyboard/mouse in (most) games. Forget USB, get adapters which plug into the original mouse and keyboard sockets, a Lyra etc.

Sorry for snapping at Nlandas, but the Buddha and USB cards are (just IMHO) two of the most over-rated, over priced bits of Amiga hardware there are. It really gets me worked up when people recommend them without qualifying why.

USB is not a good solution JUST for Keyboard and Mouse (technically or economically). If you absolutely NEED USB for other things (USB-Key, scanner, printer etc.) it becomes justifiable, I guess. It will still piss you off the first application you come across that the keyboard doesnt work :-)

Again the buddha, as an IDE controller, just doesnt have enough advantages over the internal IDE to be justifiable (again, just my opinion).

But

If you need a catweasel (cos the new ones have buddha built in) and a clock port for another expansion, then it becomes more attractive.
