9-pin ports seem to have died - Fixed itself!!
« on: July 03, 2024, 11:46:58 AM »
Configured the GS to use my Master system joystick in port 1 (double click fire to get port to show) and started Rick Dangerous, up wasn't working so I tried two of my zipstiks still no up... decided to reconfigure to use the second 9-pin port and now the 9-pins are not showing up in the preferences :(

Reconfigure? How are you doing this?
Just removing it from port one to port two and pressing pressing fire few times should be all it needs.

Yup power cycled and put a zipstik in port 2, pressing/double pressing/pressing loads as quick as possible does nothing the 9-pin ports don't appear in the controller settings.

EDIT: Just tried it again and now both ports work... just have the original problem that UP doesn't work on GAME 1 port

I think my GS might be haunted, I power cycled a few times tried multiple joysticks in both ports and they were not showing up in the controller settings...

Tested a couple of different joysticks in game & on the menu system, up works in the right port but not in the left port... nothing obvious looking at the soldering apart from a lot of flux... the wifi antenna was lodged under the left port though...

Currently imaging the 64GB card, gonna try writing that to a spare 256GB and expanding the partition in linux (PiMiga4.0 x86 distro... I can't remember which linux distro it's based on...)
...that worked I... I think... is there somewhere I can check storage??

Seems faster with the new mSD card in it...:)

The 64GB had 600MB of unallocated space at the end... I guess that is because the definition of 64GB varies by manufacturer??

And after putting back together up now works on port 1 :D

I'm gonna have to start making videos when it's not working...

It feels faster...might just be my imagination... the SD I put in was an expensive one I bought to solve issues I had with my GoPro 9 hero black camera

The resizing thing is good to know if I need to replace it in the the future :)

Off to enjoy the CD32 'talkie' version of simon the sorcerer on the GS :)

I PM'ed you.

Also, you dont need to put in another machine, as it should resize automatically. Not sure how its faster, considering sd is rated at 100mb's read/write.
