WARNING: Fake OS4 beta
« on: November 28, 2002, 12:24:49 PM »
Taken from AmigaOS4 Mailinglist:

"A word of warning: I have received word that a supposedly leaked beta version of OS 4 is available. The file contains, among other things, a README carring my name ("HJF") and a hal.rom and kernel.rom file.

If you really bothered to download it, this is a fake. It obviously  outputs some "funny" messages like "xx Megabytes of memory leaked, but OS4 has virtual memory anyway" and other childish things, like the funny "HYPErion". As it is common with these kind of things, it might have more sinnister side effects, meaning it might contain a virus or something, although I can't say this for sure.
"

"In any case, this is *not* OS 4. Not even remotely. The author obviously doesn't have any clue about how OS4 looks like, otherwise he wouldn't have used ".rom" as a file extension - we're not using ROM code anyway.

Besides it is 68k - and ExecSG is ppc native, contains about 4000 lines of PowerPC assembler which will most definately *not* run on 68k :-)

Best regards,
