Love this guy Bill Herd... he started out in electronics about the same time I did. I got into electronics repair in 1977 - I was actually the first "Authorized Commodore Repair/Service Tech" in Biloxi, MS in 1987 at a place called Coast Computers - I think they're still in business. Fun job. There was a little component back then called an SCR. Devilish little thing to isolate a bad one. I tested them with an Ohm meter back then before there were cheap transistor checkers (you had to remove them from the circuit).

Notoriously went bad in 1541 Disk Drives. Yeah, I wanna party with this guy and DARRIN sometime! :drink: I have watched quit a few of Bills vids - they are great! Thanks for the youtube pointer!
BTW, I quite working on TVs after the first time I took a HV hit! More often than not, you had to work on them lit up (we're talkin the old stuff!). :shocked:
