« on: June 28, 2004, 08:20:10 PM »
I've been looking to get a PDA for work... this means one that can use Excel spread sheets...

My research has thrown up this little chap, the HP iPaq 4150... anyone here have much experience with this device?

-Edit- The race is between this and the Dell Axim X3 :-)

Are you recommending the HP4150 then? :-)

I'm also interested in the Asus MyPal A730...

Haven't worked with those for over a year (Worked at their support back when they were still called Compaq iPaq :-P), but IIRC, the excel version in PocketPC isn't as functional as the "real thing".

That is a concern! I need to be able to add comments to the cells...

I'll have to visit a shop and try one out...

Has anyone run ScummVM on an HP4150?

Also does the HP4150 just run "Pocket PC 2003
Windows Mobile" programs or can it run other WindowsCE (PocketPC) program if they are compiled for the ARM (is the Xscale fully ARM compatible?)

The HP iPAQ 4150 is a work of art!

I recommend it to any one. ScummVM is brilliant, it plays Quake great too! Movies, Mp3's... I can cary pictures, Documents and spreadsheets! The battery lasts all day, the screen is bright and crystal clear!

That is the best £320 (with a 512Meg SDIO memory card) I have spent since my A1200!

I can't wait to get programming the thing!

How do you like the handwriting recognition?

Amazingly It is able to recognise my handwriting better than I can!

I'll scribble down a few notes (when I'm out inspecting)... then pop the unit back into my pocket, by the time I get back to the office, I read the notes and I can't really tell what I have writen (I had this problem with my old pen-&-paper note pad), Click recognise, and it turns it in to type! At worst it missrecognises maybe 3 letters!
