Why all the bitching? If you don't want adverts then the alternative is to pay for the A.org service.

Think yourselves lucky, here in the UK we have to pay to own/use a TV even if we don't watch the TV channels that are funded by the annual fee

Personally I recommend the Stax SR-009 electrostatic headphones.

Sound Pressure Sensitivity: 101dB / 100V r.m.s. 1 kHz
Maximum Sound Pressure: 118dB / 400Hz

Can't argue with those figures. Since they are electrostatic and require quite high voltage bias (580V), you'll need to buy the special preamp.
