Well, technically " 'em " isn't a valid contraction either... but it will be understood by most English speakers... I wasn't getting at you, I just didn't understand what you meant at first :-)

The use of the apostrophe is a minefield in English... though I am of the opinion that as long as you can be understood it doesn't matter... It's nice to have a some rules :-)
