Are you referring to Aslan the lion? If so then "ass lan" is the correct pronunciation.

Even "aslan" would have been acceptable, but in the movie, several people put notable pause between as and lan, making it come out as "ass lan".

That is the correct pronunctiation in English.

American English may differ I guess.


It's just occured to me (having not seen the film), that many actors in it have regional English accents... that probably threw off Waynes American ears!! :-)
