Well, my old A4000 PPC/060 never came back from the dead. Well, it sort of did if I took the Picasso IV out of it, but I couldn't really look at that screen anymore. Need bigger, less flicker. Can't go back.

So now I've mailed off the order and I await my uA1. *sigh*. It's been hours already. When will it arrive?!!

Heheheh :-)

If you don't mind me asking... how many mortgages did you need to take out to buy it?

Hehe - I was tidying out recently (moving apartment) and came across a letter from Phase5 regarding my delayed G4 card - asking whether I'd accept the updated specification, or wanted to cancel out (IIRC).

What did you do?

I still can't get over the price.  How much did you end up paying if I might ask?  (and specs please)

It's this one.
micro A one

I went for a prebuilt job as I don't have a lot of tinker time right now. The price seemed pretty reasonable. It's about what I paid for a 4000 some years back. It's about twice what I paid for a PPC/060 board. And it'll be the first bit of not pre-owned kit I've bought in years. I'm pretty excited.

Wow!!! That's a fair chunk of cash!! Still the case is quite nice.

Yup. But then again, compared to what. Like I said, my A4000 was a comparable amount, and the video card and PPC/060 added together are again a similar amount.

Also, this year I have spent $800 to fix my car and it isn't fixed yet!!

However, I don't look at it as a matter of cost, but of value. I know I could get a pretty decent x86 system for a third of the cost, but I don't want one so $500 is too much for me to spend on one (even $200 really considering that you can grab decent machines out of dumpsters and I have!!).

The A one exists, I can afford it and there's a version of OS4 running on it. That sounds like a bargain to me.

Well then, enjoy it! :-D
