MATROX Millennium 4meg PCI Video Card
« on: September 15, 2004, 03:04:58 PM »
One of the old Backup machines is being scraped today. It was used as the spare computer in case any machine broke down, but it's been lurking in a cupboard for 8 years and never actually used.

I decided to take a quick look at it before it was consigned to the bin... and found that the CD and Hard drives had been scavinged along with the Monitor. I powered it up and it went to the BIOS screen.

I opened it up but found nothing of any value... except 2 16meg 72pin SIMMS ( I whipped them out... and one of them it on it's way to my BlizzPPC, 48meg here I come!!!!)... Then I noticed that the GFX card was a Matrox PCI one, I remembered that Amiga users need PCI gfx boards so I whipped it out.

Does any one want it? Or is it heading for the bin? Hmmm... Maybe I should get a PCI busboard :-)

There aren't any drivers for Matrox PCI cards on Amiga, only for Voodoo 3/4/5 and S3 Virge.

Although, if you have a bit of spare time, you could write some :-)

The Matrox Millenium was a great card in it's day.

Oh! I though Mediator or Promethious or some other had drivers for the Matrox... oh well, never mind :-)

Isn't there any VESA-driver? :-?

I imagine there should be...

I was trying to find out how much this card is worth... if this eBay is any thing to go by (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5122618659&category=40160) then about $160 :-D

I put it's true value at around $4... I think this one's for the bin :-)
