Well, it is in fact illegal..

Just like you aren't entitled to free wb disks if you got a used A500 without them..

Amiga Inc likened it to a used car: if you don't get the manual / jack / whatever when you buy a used car, you aren't entitled to free ones from the manufacturer, the car is sold as is.

Such is life. Luckily there's the internet where you can illegally download things like this with the minimum of hassle. ;-)

You have it wrong. This situation is nothing like a car.

For the record Commodore did provide a free (+shipping and media cost) new kickstart disks upon request.

Amiga Inc. don't own anything and KMOS has said nothing (I don't expect to hear any noise from that direct either).

Anyway, I see no problem with providing someone with an A1000 kickstart disk when they own an Amiga 1000.

If you have any concerns about this send an Email to KMOS, asking them to sue you.

Going back to your car analogy... You buy your car, but you replace the battery, You forget to note down the Radio code... The car manufacturer will provide you with the Radio code.

To answer the original question... :)

Back when I fired up my A1000 for the first time (a few months back now!) I found that my Kickstart disk was knackered. Luckily I found a handy program on the Aminet which takes a standard ROM image (like you can download quite easily) and makes a bootable Kickstart disk from it. Works a treat for my A1000 (a very early one).

Can't remember what it's called, that program, but it's on there somewhere. Let me know if you can't find it, and I'll find out what it was.

Now that sounds like a cool program!

@Zipper, you better read the T&C of this site, and remove the link from your post :-)
