My first impression? i have to tweek with the settings . . . slow for now.

 Yes. In my case, it feels slower that AmigaOS 3.x, which is very strange because MOS ic PPC native... Any ideas why?
 It could be that i'm using a 68k file system, or maybe not. I will try SFS_MOS later. Atm, i am a bit disappointed.

weird . . . if you open the System Monitor utility once, the system become much faster

 VERY weird, indeed! Sometimes i have to start the system monitor to get a desent speed, sometimes i don't.
 I think that you must report this to the MOS developing team.

 Btw, i've never manage to make MOS 0.4 to work, so i want to ask you how fast V0.4 is, compared to this one?

 PS: Another very annoying thing is that internet access is extremely slow for me (using miami). The downloading speed is not even half of the speed when i'm using AOS. It's practicaly unusable for dial-up connections... :(

 @DJBase
I see. :(

 About the ambient desktop: Maybe it's too early for me to speak, since i'm testing it for 2 days only. Ambient looks like a wonderful eye candy but it doesn't appear to be a very functional enviroment. Even the standard Workbench 3.9 is far better as functionality is concerned. I mean, just compare the menus of these 2 enviroments to get an idea of what i'm talking.
 Who cares if workbench is uglier. Personally i dislike eye candies.

 I hope AOS4 will be faster and better.

Just remember that Miami runs in 68k emulation and that depends on how fast your PPC is. There are huge difference between 603/160 and 604/233.

 I understand what you say, but i don't think that this can explain the slow-down of the serial port i/o under MOS. Perhaps it does, i don't know.
 The fact is that the speed of the downloading gets halved with miami running under MOS. I experience a similar effect under AOS 3.9, when i try to play a movie with a WarpOS player while i download a file. If i try do the same with a 68k player, the downloading speed doesn't get affected much.
 Hmm.. i see a pattern here: Is it possible that the PowerPC CPU mess up the serial port transfers? Could this kind of problems be solved with the addition of a fast, buffered serial port like silver-surfer?

 I have already tried this device. The MOS version of 8n1.device, too. They both make miami to idle forever at the message "connecting ppp level LCP please wait".

@Framiga
 Hi. No, that didn't solve the problem. I've tried with genesis MUI, too. I just can't connect using the MOS version of serial.device... :(
 And since i CAN connect using the 68k serial.device or the build-in device of miami (with an unacceptable speed, of course), i'm forced to say that there must be a bug in the serial.device of MorphOS.
 Is there another MOS native device that i could try?
 Am i the only one having this particular problem?

@Framiga
I'm using the same version of genesis with you and i had some problems problem at the beginning, too. I don't remember exactly how did i fix it but i surely did it by using snoopdos. Iirc, i copied the resource.library to mossys:libs/ and the term.mcc to mossys:classes/mui/ or something.

ah . . . i have a Xsurf2 with its xsurf.device . . . i've heard that
thers problems with some 68k devices . . .could be this?

 I already know that there is a problem with 68k serial devices. It's because they have to be emulated and that makes them slow.
 The problem is that i can not use the MOS version of serial.device. From miami or genesis.

@All classic users with a serial modem
 Does anyone else in this forum have the same problem? Or even, Does anyone with a simiral setup is able to use the MOS native serial.device? It's the 3rd time that i'm asking this question. What the heck?....

 I have finally manage to use the MOS serial.device but it's just as slow as the 68k is! :(
 It appears that the problem is not the serial.device, afterall..I don't know.
