As mentioned by someone else, you just needed to mount the driver. The above command, as I understand it, automatically mounts any drivers found in the folder. Its quicker (and easier) than writing:
C:Mount >NIL: Devs:DosDrivers/awnpipe
C:Mount >NIL: Devs:DosDrivers/zipdrive
C:Mount >NIL: Devs:DosDrivers/pc1
C:Mount >NIL: Devs:DosDrivers/pc2
and also enables you to avoid any typo's when adding one to the list.
As a sidenote, I never mess with my "Sys:s/startup-sequence" file, it incorporates code that detects and runs a "user-startup" file also stored in the "Sys:s/" drawer.
This means I can add/remove anything without the risk of accidentally ruining any valuable workbench startup commands
