My 4000/040 has died and I need someone who can fix it here in the UK. Has
anyone any knowledge about repairers? Is it possible to get a new 68040 cpu?

I have seen many caps leak on A3640 boards and eat a trace that runs under the cap. Its pretty rare to see a 040 cpu die.this will give black/ no boot screen.
Several caps on the a3640 were installed backward and needs correcting anyway.
I'm guessing you have reseated the board and verified its plugged in all the way?
