yea, you can remove them, but note what chip and pin each wire goes to and write it down just in case-keep a note with the switcher. Its best to not leave any wire hanging off the chips since it can act as a antenna.

good catch there matt.. A1000's are still plentiful in the USA so getting another would be simple.
