yea, you can remove them, but note what chip and pin each wire goes to and write it down just in case-keep a note with the switcher. Its best to not leave any wire hanging off the chips since it can act as a antenna.

Oh, I would leave that thing installed! Seems like it would make life with the A1000 much simpler. The hardware database entry also says that it replaces a PAL on the daughterboard. Not sure if using that replacement PAL without the switcher could have any side effects. Plus the new PAL means you can't quite put it back to stock condition

good catch there matt.. A1000's are still plentiful in the USA so getting another would be simple.
