Any ideas ?

As someone said above, there are quite a few revisions of that card and not all work in the mediator. i have had problems with some revisions myself.

How do I know what revision my card is then?
Look on the realtek chip on the card. more than likely the number will end in a,b,c,d. It may also be noted on the pcb somewhere.

Even the cards that did not work for me showed in pci info. Not sure what the trouble is, but if you have the cards in the recommended order and the card is known good,it should see something in pciinfo. Unfortunately even though the mediator list says its compatible, you're card could be a china knockoff, the firmware could have still been different than the "D" they tested, etc etc.  i have gotten some dlink cards off ebay for cheap that work fine. you always take a chance however.  you are using fastethernet.device right?
