CyberstormPPC rescued

Late last year one of my CSPPC stopped working; I was almost dead sure it was beyond rescue, since upon inspection, it seemed as if the cheap DCE PPC- fan had decided to give up. Jammed due to dust.

It is very sad when such a wonderful piece of hardware becomes useless, not only because of the economic value, but for me, more the thought that a piece of important amiga legacy hardware dies, never to render a single frame of Doom again.

Last hope: Stachu in Poland! I decided to let him have a go with the defect CSPPC, even though he clearly explained to me uncertain outcome of any rescue attempt; if the board logic itself had been fried by overheating, chances would be slim to bring back the card to life.

I had two CSPPC sent to Stachu in early february, one working for upgrade, and the defect one for rescue operation. It took Stachu only a couple of days to track down the problem with the non- working CSPPC and bring it back to life. So, both cards working, and now upgraded. I am soon pushing on 40, but when I went to the post- office to get the packet from Poland, I must have looked like a five- year old on christmas.
