I just picked up an 1950 monitor.  I plugged it in tot he Amiga 1200 with a 23pin to VGA adapter and I get no picture.  In fact something is up with the system when it's plugged in.  The machine appears not to boot.  I can't tell what is displayed since I can't see anything.  I can't figure out how to get any kind of display on the monitor.

Also, I have no idea how to boot the Amiga from a floppy, it's always booting from the CF.  I figured if I put a kickstart disk in it might display an default screen res just in case it's a bad monitor mode on  my workbench.

I very new to Amiga and I really need some help on what to do.

you don't need to unplug your cf or boot from floppy, the C= 1950 is a multisync and displays 15khz and up video so should even display the guru message if its working.. are you using a silver 23 to 15pin C= adapter?

You might to read about known problems with this monitor here:

Be careful if you go inside the monitor there are LETHAL voltages in there that could hurt/kill you. Don't do it if you do not know what you are doing.
