A bit off the subject and just fyi it may be technically possible to put a 68040v into a 68040 socket with this:

from 3.3V to 5V.
But the cost would probabaly be high,if you could find this adapter who knows,and the gain you may see would probabaly be trivial.
I have personally over clock the 3640 and had good results with 33mhz and under, this seems to relate to what mask 040 chip you have,and the results can vary greatly.speed of motherboard ram may play into this also,as 60ns may be a benifiet.
