Questions about Secret of the silver blades

Good luck ! I did the curse-secret-p.o.d. run in the past on the amiga good memories, never finished pools of darkness but my save is still in my miggy By the mids of the pools though my party was overwhelmingly strong so it actually killed the fun (I had a ranger/mage dual class which could hurl d.b.fireballs inside plate armor !)

About characters, of course you'ld be going for humans. What puzzled me though was if you start of pool of radiance, you don't have access to paladin and ranger which sucks big time. Therefore I started my run from the curse. If you're gonna start from the pool probably you should have some fighters and dual class later on in the secret (the later you switch, the better). Anyway, good luck, secret was the most boring one AFAIR with the most linear play. Pools of Darkness is the most awesome one though. (btw, stay away from the pools of darkness novel. it's such a joke. just check this review lol curse novel and the trilogy is awesome though, definitely recommended !)

Baldur's gate was cool but icewind dale was such a boring piece of crap ...

I never got past Pool of Radiance, was Curse and Pools better? What's the level cap on those, anyways? I always seemed to run into issues with capping experience way too early.

Pools was definitely the best in the series (for me) the engine is at its best, doesnt get in your way, and the plot is quite good for a game late in the series (usually later games in a series suffer from unimaginative plot syndrome ...)
